TORPEY have an opportunity in a key leadership role for a senior manufacturing professional to join our team as a Manufacturing & Operations Manager, leading the day-to-day running of our factory operations while driving innovation across our manufacturing systems.

The Role:
Manufacturing: Oversee all onsite manufacturing operations and ensure output meets quality, cost, and delivery targets. Lead daily manufacturing operations, scheduling, throughput, and resource planning. This is also a hands-on role, and the successful candidate will be required to spend time working directly in manufacturing as needed to support production requirements.
Process Planning: Work with digital manufacturing systems, driving continuous improvement, advancing Lean production goals with a focus on metrics, and data.
Leadership: Line manage and mentor staff, overseeing recruitment, training, and development building a positive workplace culture that reflects Torpey’s values of teamwork, craftsmanship, and innovation.
Inventory & Purchasing Management: Take ownership of ordering products and supplies for the entire facility, ensuring day-to-day operations continue to run smoothly. This includes being in control of all product stock level management across the business, monitoring internal inventory and stock levels on an ongoing basis, from office supplies such as pens to production materials, finishing supplies, spare parts, and machine components.
Machine Maintenance : Carry out necessary machine maintenance where required and work with third party companies ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum. Monitor advanced machinery using preventative maintenance principles.
Logistics: Ensure warehousing, dispatch, inbound, and outbound logistics are managed effectively, efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively. Act as the central point of communication for all logistics-related matters, ensuring that all communication regarding goods coming in and going out goes through them.
Operations & Facilities Support: Take ownership of day-to-day operational problem-solving across the factory, both through the company’s systems and through practical facilities support. This may include assisting with IT setup and support when required, resolving everyday operational issues, and ensuring the factory is kept clean, organised, and free from unnecessary waste.
Future Planning: Collaborate with engineering and R&D in identifying and implementing new technologies and systems to enhance efficiency and scalability.

- Demonstrated ability to operate, optimise, and supervise the use of diverse manufacturing machinery in a fast-paced production environment.
- Practical, hands-on manufacturing experience
- Excellent Organisational and Time-Management skills.
- Strong Analytical Skills and Attention to Detail.
- Competent in relevant IT skills
- Strong People Management and HR compliance experience.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Hands-on approach to driving factory initiatives.
- Resourcefulness (can turn their hand to anything).
Experience:
- Proven track record in manufacturing/operations management and maintenance, ideally within CNC or high-tech manufacturing.
- Experience implementing and improving Lean/continuous improvement systems.
- Third-level qualification in engineering, operations management, business management, manufacturing technology or similar preferred.
- Forklift driving experience is advantageous.
- First Aid training or certification is desirable.
- Previous manual handling training is beneficial.
- Fluent verbal and written English
