At Torpey, innovation never stops. This year, we’re proud to introduce our latest evolution in Hurley design, the Bambú Sleek. Crafted from years of experience, testing and feedback from elite players, the Sleek represents a new chapter in the performance of Bambú Hurleys.
A Journey of Innovation: From 2020 to Today
Our Bambú story began back in 2020, when we launched the original Bambú, a bold step into sustainable Hurley design. That first model sparked huge interest across the country, proving that Bambú could deliver both strength and consistency. From there, our development continued:
- Bambú Original (2021) - designed for pace and responsiveness.
- Bambú Strike (2024) - engineered to help players achieve greater striking distance.
Now, in 2025, we proudly unveil the Bambú Sleek, combining the best of both worlds, control, power, and distance in one balanced design.
Over the last 12 months, our team has worked closely with elite Hurlers and Camogie players to perfect every detail of the Sleek. Through extensive testing sessions and valuable on-field feedback, one clear theme emerged: Modern players need more control without sacrificing strength or distance.
In today’s fast-paced game, the sliotar can travel through the air at incredible speeds, meaning control is everything. A split-second loss of touch can mean a turnover, and that can decide the match.
Engineering the Perfect Balance
One key improvement in the Bambú Sleek is the refined shape through the second hand, an area that’s crucial for touch and ball control. Our challenge was simple but demanding:
How do we make this section narrower for better handling, while still maintaining the signature Torpey strength that players trust?
After months of prototyping and testing, we’ve achieved a breakthrough. The Sleek offers:
- Exceptional strength and durability
- Increased control and feel on the sliotar
- Enhanced distance and striking power
- A perfectly balanced hand feel for the quick decision-making under pressure
The result is a Hurley that doesn’t just perform, it adapts to the modern game.
